Of all the films I have seen, all the films I have had to critique, the one that stands out the most, the one that I fell in love with and watched over and over again, not because I had to for my job, but rather because I was genuinely entertained and taken aback by is Man On Fire staring Denzel Washington. Part of the reason behind this was the original storyline, the great acting and ofcourse the incredible realism behind each and every scene, a very old school approach I must say. Though, the main reason why is because of a little girl (at the time) Dakota Fanning, and while I have followed close behind every single one of her movies since then, non of them have possessed the same high standard of entertainment of Man On Fire. That is though, until now. She absolutely owns this movie and brings it to life in ways I cannot quite put into words. Directed by Ben Lewin and written by the extremely creative Michael Golamco, Magnolia Pictures presents to you the most emotion creating drama I have ever seen. Premised around the journey of a klingon language speaking autistic girl that is so deep in love with Star Trek that she writes an entire script for it, one that no one believes in but herself. That is until she receives news of a Star Trek writing competition in Hollywood. Due to her condition, all she experiences is negativity, stoppage and disbelieve from her family, but this does not stop her, thus leading to her escaping with nothing but your little dog, her script and a dream. Of the most uplifting and motivating productions I have seen since The Pursuit of Happyness and an absolute must for the whole family, and especially anyone that needs to see that nothing can stop you if your dream is big enough!
