To be completely forthcoming with you I was not overly excited by the fact that I had to watch this film, not because of a bad cast, the caste is actually remarkable. The reason why, is for the exact same reason why I never enjoyed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 or even Ender’s Game, just because the book that the production was based upon was just so so good. I am an avid reader of Madeleine L'Engle and have personally read A Wrinkle in Time three times within the last three years. I just find it to be the most enchanting story and I love getting myself completely lost in it for hours at a time. Hence why, I had such negative reservations about watching it. As any of our long term members know, when ever I am in the wrong, I will always be the first one to admit it, and oh boy was I wrong here. The film is not only an absolute masterpiece, I would even go as far as to say that this movie is so good, and I enjoyed it so much that it is of my top 7 book-to-a-movie category type of production where it is totally on par, if not even better than the original book. Star studded from top to bottom and comprising of the biggest names in the industry such as Oprah Winfrey who actually stares as Mrs Which, Zach Galifianakis and of course the hilarious, and extremely uplifting Michael Peña. Diligently pieced together by Jennifer Lee and directed by Ava DuVernay (Queen Sugar and also Selma) here is the absolutely breathtaking and extremely magical tale of endless possibilities, instantaneous space travel, and the most beautiful display of commitment and perseverance from a little girl that will go to absolutely any lengths and withstand any amounts of seemingly impossible tests just to get her dad back. What I love about this film, and really what I am always loved about original script is how it reminds us just how powerful the power of love is, and that sometimes in our busy lives in the 21st century with our jobs, technology and demands of society we sometimes tend to forget about that magical that is and always will be out there, just as long as we believe and have faith. From the exact same creators that brought us The Jungle Book, this is an absolute must for the whole family, most specifically which the type of families that have kids! Extremely entertaining and just a great way to be reminded of the magic of love!
